LYNN — At the Lynn Public Library, summer reading is more than an assignment — it’s a party.

On June 25, the Lynn Public Library will hold a kickoff event to celebrate the start of the 2022 Summer Reading Program. There will be activities for all ages on the library’s lawn from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. including games, crafts, and food.

Just like the kickoff event, the Summer Reading Program also has something for everyone. The Children’s Department has reading logs for young readers. After four hours of reading, kids can choose a prize.

For teens in grades six through 12, each hour of reading counts as an entry to win a summer prize pack, which includes a Dunkin’ gift card, an Amazon Fire Tablet, and s’mores slime. Hours can be logged online or at the library.

Adults are also encouraged to hit the books this summer. For every book read and reviewed, adult readers are entered into a weekly drawing. Every Friday, a participant will be randomly chosen to win a $20 gift card to a Lynn restaurant.

Anyone who participates in a summer reading program will be eligible to win the grand prize: a 1-year family membership to Zoo New England.

The 2022 Summer Reading Program starts June 21 and runs until August 19. All patrons are encouraged to participate by going online or visiting the library.
