MARBLEHEAD – Golfers to the tee.
The Tedesco Country Club has had a hectic past few days as it gears up to host the Tedesco Cup today and Saturday, with tee time being 7:30 a.m. both days.
The Tedesco cup is played annually by members of the club and a plus one guest.
“We have been running around crazy getting everything ready for the cup,” said club pro Ryan Train. “Everything from tee times, to figuring out pairs, to communicating with everyone.
“There are 96 teams this year and 192 players, 96 being members and the other 96 being guests,” said Train. “They play 36 holes, stroke play, and fourball. So, if me and you are a team and you score a four and I score a five then we would go with the four.”
Tee times are 7:30 and 9 as well as 12 and 2 for both Friday and Saturday.
“The Cup is just as much about hospitality as it is about golf,” Train said. “We’ll have hospitality stations out throughout the course and then out on the 10th hole there’s going to be a culinary tent. One of our culinary teams will be out serving ham and turkey as well as beer, water, and soda.”
The Tedesco Cup is not the only tournament that the country club hosts.
“We host three major events. You have the Tedesco Cup this weekend then we also have our Bob Green tournament the first week of August. Then we have the Les Dunn memorial which is the first weekend in October,” said Train. “It’s all about member experiences. As well as a way to showcase the country club. Even more so it’s a way to show the guests of the players that this is fun and possibly get them to join.”
Participants and Tedesco staff members get to enjoy a steak cookout on Friday night on the deck overlooking the course.
