LYNN —  During the month of July, the Galleries at LynnArts will be packing up and getting outside for the Plein Air Festival.

From July 2 to July 23, GALA will be hosting a Plein Air Festival with events for all ages and skill levels. Events will be held at various locations across Lynn, including King’s Beach, Red Rock Park, and Pennybrook Road.

President and Gallery Director Annette Sykes said the festival came about after hosting plein air painting, where participants paint outdoors, last year. She said it was “so much fun to introduce plein air painting to people who have never done it before.”

Sykes hopes the various events will bring member artists and new artists together. To those who do not know much about plein air, Sykes says, “give it a try… It’s a lot of fun and there’s no judgment.”

The month-long festival will kick off with a free family plein air painting event on July 2, from 3 to 6 p.m. at King’s Beach. All supplies will be provided thanks to the Better Beaches Grant. Activities later in the month include brunches, a photo walk, painting demonstrations, and talks with world-renowned artists.

To learn more about the festival or to buy tickets, visit GALA’s website.
