LYNN — The Agganis All-Star girls soccer game ended in a tie between the North and the South teams, 2-2.

South’s Zarina Pinto from Central Catholic scored first, putting the team ahead in the first half. However, the North’s goalie Samantha Bunar from Lynnfield was quick to respond. After being taken out of the goal, Bunar made her way down the field to tie the game 1-1.

“I think that the good thing is all the players have a passionate drive for this game. It made it easy for us to not know each other and play all together for the first time,” said Samantha Bunar. “It’s a beautiful day and we all got to play something. I think it’s a great way to get out and just practice because a lot of the players are playing in college.”

As the Half approached its end, South’s Adrianna Marinello from Central Catholic scored a goal for the South putting them back in the lead.

“It’s an All-Star game between North and South of Mass. Everyone played great all around and we messed around,” said Marinello. “A lot of us know each other from clubs. So, we were messing around with each other and had a great time too.”

During the second half Cathrine Gallagher brought the score back to a tie as she scored the second goal for the North.

“Honestly we kinda just had fun. With all of us being All Star players we all played very well,” said Reese Pszenny of Danvers. “We just came in winning it but we all connected.”

Bunar is the MVP winner for the North. “It’s an honor. I haven’t played field since I was young. I love the game and I love playing goalie,” said Bunar. “I was angry about a goal that got scored on me. So I wanted to try and make a difference.”

On the other side of the field Marrinello is the MVP winner for the South. “This is a great honor. I wasn’t even on Emass (Eastern Massachusetts Soccer Coaches Association) last year so this really came as a surprise,” said Marrinello. “I keep working hard and it’s really that some people are acknowledging my skill right now.”

In the fall Bunar will begin playing at Bates College while Pszenny will be playing at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Marrinello will be playing over at Merrimack College.
