Swampscott Garden Art Walk returns for second year in a row

SWAMPSCOTT — ReachArts’ Garden Art Walk is set to return to the town July 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and will feature a walking tour of local gardens and a variety of other family-friendly activities.

The event seeks to showcase different gardens around Swampscott as well as connect people with art, music, nature, and their neighbors. The Garden Art Walk will begin at the ReachArts building, but the events will span throughout the town. The walk itself features 30 different garden locations, including 17 local artists.

Carin Doben, who works for ReachArts and the Garden Art Walk described the 2021 walk as a “feel-good event” and knew that they had to do it again. As an attendant, she said she was “dumbfounded” because she met artists she didn’t know lived in the area.

Doben said that the area where ReachArts is located was designed by renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead. She hopes even more people come to the Garden Art Walk to take advantage of this “great cultural resource.”

The Swampscott Art Association will exhibit their summer show and other artists will be selling handmade works and showing off their music and poetry. Activities for children include a fan-favorite bee-keeping demonstration and an assortment of crafts.

The event is free to all attendees, but donations can be made on the ReachArts website or at the event.
