MARBLEHEAD — A recount in the race for light commissioner on Monday showed little change for the result of the race, which had been initially decided with just 19 votes, as JeanJacques Yarmoff extended his lead over Walter E. Homan by 14 votes.
Results of the recount were posted in Abbott Hall and showed Michael A. Hull, who accrued the most votes during the initial count, holding on to his first-place finish in the race with a total of 2,797 votes. Yarmoff came in second with 2,633 while Homan finished with 2,600.
In the initial count, Hull received the same number of votes while Yarmoff finished with 2,626 and Homan finished with 2,607.
The recounted results also revealed 3,656 blank ballots cast across the six precincts and 10 write-in votes, for a total of 11,696 votes.
With their victories official, Yarmoff and Hull will serve three-year terms.
Homan, an incumbent, petitioned for the recount in the wake of the June 21 election, which was plagued by issues. During the election, precincts across the town ran out of ballots, leading to hours of delay after photocopied ballots were unable to be scanned and had to be hand-counted.
