SAUGUS — The seventh annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life Cruise Night Car Show rolled into the parking lot at Fuddruckers off Route 1 Sunday night, with over 100 classic cars filling the lot to raise money.
Organizers Guy Moley, of Lynn, and Domenic Montano, of Saugus, worked together as a team to bring the car show together. Montano is a part of the “Cars and Cops” piece of the show. Moley organizes the show to bring in classic cars and donations for the American Cancer Society.
The parking lot was equipped with a lemonade stand, cosplay, and donation boxes for cancer.
A cherry crimson and pearl painted 1955 Chevy Bel Air Four Door Sedan arrived onsight with its own story on wheels.
“My husband, with the help of an interpreter, bought this car in Cuba. Then it was brought to the U.S. through Argentina. It was then restored in Miami in 2003 by Cubans. We’ve had the car since 2007, we’ve had it now for 25 years.” said Carol Giannino, of Peabody. “When the sun is out the car is out.”
More than just classic cars filled the lot as there were motorcycles along with a five ton military truck on full display. Luke Desisto, of Wakefield, pulled up with an impressive U.S. Marine Corps 1998 military truck.
“This truck last served in Iraq in 2012, and I bought it in 2018,” says Desisto. “I paid $15,000 for it. I bought it through a private sale and I didn’t want to see it go, everything on it still works.”
Around 7 p.m., everyone who bought raffle tickets were called to receive the kid’s choice award, best of choice award, people’s award and survivor’s choice award. Over $600 in donations were given to the American Cancer Society.
