East set to meet West for hoop glory

LYNN — The fight for the championship continued for the East Lynn side of the Rec. Summer Evening Basketball Program. 

In the elementary school age group, the Lynn Community Development team got a narrow 22-20 win over the DiVirgilio Home Group team. 

Kenry for Lynn Community Development and Jamel for DiVirgilio Home Group came to play, Kenry had eight points, and Jamel had 13. 

For the middle school age group: the Jared Nicholson team won the battle with the Lynn Firefighters team 70-40. Rowen Merryman had a tremendous game putting up 22 points for Jared Nicholson. 

Across the court, Kaevon Green put up 22 of his own for the Lynn Firefighters. Green’s teammate Keith Chandler also had a fantastic game scoring 18 points. 

As for the high school age group, the Relax 360 team played the Lazy Dog Sports Bar team. It was a good game, but  Relax 360  came out on top with a 65-52 win. Lazy Dog Sports Bar’s Jose Mello scored 10 points, and Stanley Rodriguez was responsible for 12 points for Relax 360. 

East and West Lynn will now meet to compete in the Championship at Marshall Middle School today. The elementary age group will start at 5:00 p.m., middle school at 6:00 p.m., and high school at 7:00 p.m.
