LYNN — The 2022 New England Regional Champs road to Virginia is approaching rapidly, and with that comes a call to the community for help.
Lynn’s Babe Ruth 15s will hold a family night on Monday, Aug. 1, at Old Tyme Italian Cuisine from 4-8 p.m. to have fun and raise money for the champs.
The event will allow anyone who can attend to meet all the players, enjoy some refreshments, and participate in 50/50 raffles. The team will also be accepting donations.
The 50/50s will begin on Monday night and run all the way up until the day the kids leave for Virginia on Aug. 9. To participate, you can scan a QR code at the event and pay through Venmo.
Jill Avery, who is helping, along with others, to ensure the kids get the funds to live out a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, encourages anyone who can come out to do so.
“Come on out, come meet the kids, come talk to some of the parents, meet the families of some of these players, and we can all talk about what exciting plans are in store for our families going along for the ride with our boys,” said Avery.
She added, “It is fantastic. I think a lot of people in the community can identify with it, and I think they are excited for them.”
Along with the upcoming family night, there are plans in the works for other fundraising events that will help make the kid’s World Series trip a great one.
Avery stressed that all this planning has been a total group effort, and everyone involved with Lynn Babe Ruth is making tremendous strides to help the kids.
She also emphasized how any donation will go a long way in helping fund lodging, meals, and other expenses for the trip.
“It is important that everyone in the community realizes that some of these kids cannot afford this trip, and it is important for the community to show their support for them, whether it is a $5 donation or a $500; everything goes towards these kids,” said Avery.
She continued, “We want to get them there safe, we want them to have a great time and make some great memories, and we need the community’s help to do that.”

“We know everybody is busy. People are on vacation, not everybody can show up to all of our events — we will be all over the city. Please do not hesitate to throw a couple bucks in,” said Avery.
