LYNN — Friends and family of missing Lynn man Walter Carrichio, 56, are asking Lynn residents for their help to bring him home safely.
Carrichio’s niece, Danielle Gorham, said that her uncle went missing more than two months ago before a planned trip to his sister’s house in North Attleboro. Gorham said that Carrichio was staying with her aunt in Haverhill when he disappeared. She said he began living in Haverhill after falling onto hard times in Lynn.
“It’s been a little bit since we’ve talked to him. He was supposed to go stay up at my mom’s up in North Attleboro, and he never made it. He got involved with some not-so-good people and went down a not-so-good road, totally unlike him, not his character. All through it all, he’d always remained in contact with the family, and especially me. We’re very close,” Gorham said. “He had made plans to go see my mom until he got back on his feet. He was going to get himself in the program.”
When Carrichio stopped responding to his family and friends’ calls and text messages, Gorham posted on social media trying to find him. When someone sent Gorham a picture of a man believed to be Carrichio, she went to Lynn to speak with police and hang posters.
“He hasn’t been in touch with friends, family, nobody’s heard from him. Someone had seen a picture and they sent it to me, and they thought it could have been him, so I went there under that pretense, and hung posters, and then talked to the Lynn Police, and they told me that the person that they thought the picture was of was in the area. They found the person. It wasn’t him,” Gorham said.
Gotham said that Carrichio is a family man, and that it’s unlike him to be completely out of reach from his family.
“I just don’t know, he’s a good guy, he’d give you the shirt off his back. He’s always been a family guy, but he hasn’t been in touch with his son, my mom, who he’s always been close to, me. Through everything, he’s always been in touch,” Gorham said. “This is just something new. The past year, he’s had his own business, he’s a taxpaying civilian, he’s a wonderful person, and anyone that’s come in contact with him would say that. I just want to know that he’s okay.”
Gorham encourages any readers who have any information regarding Carrichio’s whereabouts to reach out to her on Facebook, or notify the police.
Lt. Michael Kmiec, a spokesman for Lynn Police, said he couldn’t locate an official report on Carrichio’s disappearance.
