EVERETT — A 35-year-old Saugus man was arrested Wednesday and charged with the fatal shooting of a 38-year-old Lynn man in the city last month, according to the Middlesex district attorney’s office.

Brian Green was arrested in Reading Wednesday and charged with the murder of Jarmahl Sutson. He is expected to be arraigned in Malden District Court Thursday morning.

Green allegedly entered the Central Avenue apartment where his estranged wife lived and shot Sutson in the bedroom in the early morning hours of July 19, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said in a statement.

When Everett Police arrived, they found Sutson unresponsive suffering from a gunshot wound.

A subsequent investigation revealed that Green previously resided at the Central Avenue apartment and that he was upset about Sutson’s relationship with his estranged wife.

Green was identified as the alleged shooter following a review of surveillance video and other evidence.

In a written statement, Sutson’s family said that they were grateful to the law enforcement officials responsible for making the arrest, and asked the public to respect their privacy.

“Finally, the beginning of justice will start to bring some peace to our family. With this important step in the criminal justice system we can feel some relief and strive for the peace so many of us have struggled to find since his death,” the Sutson, Thomas, and Satterwhite Family said. “Please give our family the privacy we need. Please remember violence is never the answer and allow the Middlesex District Attorney to litigate the case”
