LYNN — The fires in Lynn Woods are still burning, according to the fire department.
As of Thursday evening at 9 p.m., the fires have burned over 26 acres of the reservation. Firefighters, with the aid of state forestry services, are still responding to the forest fires, which were first noticed Wednesday afternoon.
While wind has carried low-lying smoke across neighboring communities, no residences or other structures are threatened. According to the fire department, most of the fires “are burning deep underground” and traveling via the root systems of trees. As such, those occupying the perimeter of Lynn Woods should not be concerned about their buildings catching fire.
The reservation remains closed to the public. There is no current timeline as to when the reservation will reopen.
