LYNN — If you have questions about the Pickering Middle School Building project, the City has an answer.

Friday afternoon, Mayor Jared Nicholson announced that the City launched a website with information about the school building project. At a School Building Committee meeting, he said that having the website is important to “start laying the groundwork for the level of communication we are hoping to achieve with the community.”

The new website includes information about the reason for building, the team behind the project, and other information about the project itself. Information is available in English, Spanish, and Khmer.

The site also includes information about upcoming events and meetings related to the project, as well as a backlog of past School Building Committee meetings. The document library compiles PDF files of all the publicly available documents related to the project.

In the FAQ section, the website outlines pertinent information for those interested in the building project, such as questions about the potential site for a new school and Massachusetts School Building Authority. As the project progresses, the website will be updated with new information.

The Pickering Middle School Building project was started in April 2021 when the MSBA invited the City into the Eligibility Period. According to the website, the entire project is expected to be completed in five to seven years, with construction and/or renovation anticipated for 2024 and completion in 2027. The project, funded in part by MSBA, is currently estimated to cost between $110 million and $140 million, per the FAQ page.
