LYNNFIELD — Whether it be jet skis or bacteria, something murky is in the waters of Pillings Pond.
The Board of Health met to discuss the current conditions of the pond. Currently, there is an advisory that urges people to refrain from engaging with the water. After Thursday’s meeting, the advisory still stands.
The Conservation Committee tested the pond water for cyanobacteria, and found that it is still present. The BOH is also testing the water, but for E. coli. The results have not yet been processed.
“I’m the one that can close the pond and put advisories on the pond,” Health Director Coral Hope said.
In order to protect the wildlife in the pond, the board is planning to “wait for colder weather or heavy rains to flush out the bacteria,” according to Coral.
The board even hinted that there might be someone making these jet skis accessible to pond-goers.
Also at the meeting, two animal inspectors, Dave Crockett and Coral Hope, were sworn in.
Vice Chair Dr. Gail Link McCausland told Crockett “Everything I have heard about you is glowing.”
Lightheartedly, Crockett responded, “I’ve got a pretty high return rate,” in regard to finding missing pets in town. Crockett currently holds the title of dog officer.
