REVERE — The Peabody Tanners blanked the Revere Patriots in a scrimmage 3-0 Thursday at Revere High School.

Peabody Head Coach Tawny Palmieri was thrilled with her team’s performance there and has been throughout the preseason.

“This has been a great preseason for us — especially the returning players that knew what to expect. So I am very proud of the way we have been playing,” said Palmieri.

“I think we are ready to go for the season — I am very happy with where we are at right now,” she added.

Megan Collins came up huge for the Tanners, notching a goal and an assist for her squad. Ava Decicco was the beneficiary of Collins’ beautiful assist to get a goal of her own, and Capt. Siobhan Smith scored to put the game out of Revere’s reach.

Although Palmieri is happy with her team’s performance thus far, she indicated there are still some things they can work on.

“Definitely helping out on defense, and I also think our conditioning always can improve, but things like this — scrimmages preseason all that will help, but I think those two things will be our biggest things to work on,” said Palmieri.

On the other side, Revere Head Coach Briana Scata believes that her team’s confidence is growing with every game they play.

“From our scrimmage tonight and our scrimmage the other day, I think they got a lot more confident between the two scrimmages,” said Scata.

Even in a loss, Scata was encouraged with how her team communicated, which will help the Patriots in the long run.

“We have taken away the more our communication has continued, the more we communicate, and the more people that are communicating, the better we have done,” said Scata.

“We heard a lot of communication today. That is huge for the season that we are already starting out with so much communication, so I am really excited about that,” she added.

Overall, Revere seems to be in a good place with the regular season rapidly approaching.

“They are really showing that they have each other’s backs and can trust each other, so that is a really great way to start the season,” said Scata.

As for the Tanners, especially with the way they have started the preseason, Palmieri explained that her team is excited for the regular season to begin.

“Definitely excited this year. I think we are in an even better place than we have been in the past as far as team chemistry, conditioning, and all that stuff. I think we are ready to give our best shot to the better teams in our league,” said Palmieri.
