On Tuesday, voters across the state headed to the polls, tasked with deciding the results of a number of contested — and uncontested — races up and down the ballot.
Among the uncontested races on primary day is that of democratic nominee for governor — voters will see two names on the ballot but Attorney General Maura Healey’s opponent, state Sen. Sonia Chang-Diaz dropped out in June. Deborah B. Goldberg similarly faces no opponent in her re-election bid for treasurer.
U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Salem) also does not face a primary challenge but will face Republican challenger Bob May (R-Peabody) in the general election come November. May is similarly running unopposed in the primaries.
Incumbent 6th District Councilor Terrence W. Kennedy (D-Lynnfield) is unopposed in his re-election bid while Michael C. Walsh (R-Lynnfield) does not have a Republican challenger. Walsh will face incumbent Eileen R. Duff (D-Boston), who is also running unopposed, in the general election.
A number of members of the North Shore congressional delegation are also running unopposed.
In the race for 10th Essex District representative, incumbent Rep. Dan Cahill (D-Lynn) faces no challengers in the primary, nor does incumbent 11th Essex District Rep. Pete Capano (D-Lynn). Capano and Cahill are also unopposed in the general election.
Third Essex Sen. Brendan Crighton (D-Lynn) is also running uncontested in the primary and general elections in his bid for re-election.
Peabody Rep. Thomas Walsh, too, will run uncontested both in the primary, as well as the general election in his bid for re-election in the 12th Essex District.
In the 9th Essex District, incumbent Rep. Donald Wong (R-Saugus) faces no challengers in either the primary or general elections.
