The Peabody Tanners boys soccer team made a miraculous comeback to tie powerhouse Concord-Carlisle 5-5. The Tanners fell behind as many as five goals in the first half before they went on the comeback trail scoring five unanswered goals in the second half. 

John Arruda led the way for Peabody in its comeback with three goals and an assist. Bruno Correia also notched a goal and two assists, while Kyle Lobao scored the eventual game-tying goal. Peabody Head Coach Stan McKeen was thrilled with the game calling it the best comeback he has been a part of. 

GOLF

Peabody 62,

Saugus 10 

Everyone won their matches for the Tanners. The victory brings them to (2-1) on the season, and they will face off against Salem Monday (4). 

Georgetown  139,

Manchester Essex 92

The top scorers for Georgetown were Logan Corriveau and Will Sorenson, with 27 each, and Ty Southall, with 30. Manchester Essex’s Sam Athanas also scored 23. 

Marblehead- 48.5,

Winthrop – 23.5

Marblehead has started its season strong and now sits at (3-0) after its victory over Winthrop. Adrian Baron, Jacob Aizanman, Marty Ryan, Jacob Hershfield, and Matt Mahan all won their matches. The Magicians will battle with Lynn Classical Tuesday (4). 

FIELD HOCKEY

Beverly 4, 

Marblehead 1

Sydney Hamilton had the Magician’s lone goal on an assist from Clara Donovan. Goalie Maggie Beachesne had 10 saves on the night and played well along with Emma Callaghan and Savannah Caruso. 

Danvers 2,

Swampscott 1

Danvers was able to take the victory over Swampscott with goals on a corner and a penalty stroke. Sawyer Groothuis scored Swampscott’s only goal, and Cece O’Connor played well in net with eight saves. 

St. Mary’s 10,

Malden 0

Gabbi Oakes and Kasey Litwin were offensive juggernauts for the Spartans, each having a hat trick. Maggie Pierce, Gianna Korisianos, Brianna Spinelli, and Ava Korisianos also scored for St. Mary’s. 

GIRLS SOCCER

Lynn Tech 2,

Notre Dame Academy 2

Helen Pojoy, a Tech team captain, pulled her team to a tie with NDA, scoring two goals in the game’s final seven minutes. Cindy DeLeon was also huge in net to help preserve the tie for the Tigers. Angela Reyes and Kalli Landaverde also had excellent performances. 

Lynn Classical 7,

Chelsea 0

Classical had a massive victory over Chelsea in which everyone got involved – six different players scored goals. Classical is in the Lynn City Tournament finals and will face off with St. Mary’s Saturday (12:45). 

BOYS SOCCER 

KIPP Academy 9, 

Greater Lawrence 0

Kenny DeLeon and Christian Garcia led the way for KIPP with two goals each. DeLeon also notched four assists, and a host of other players scored in KIPP’s thrashing of Greater Lawrence. Goalkeeper Angel Lopez got his second shutout of the season as well. KIPP will travel to Nashoba Tech and play them Wednesday (4). 

VOLLEYBALL

Marblehead 3,

Bishop Fenwick 0

The Magicians took down Bishop Fenwick in three straight sets, 25-9, 25-24, 25-13. Keira Sweetnam had a great day of offense for Marblehead with nine kills, and Madison Cole had four kills of her own. Julia Potvin and Tamya Johnson were also excellent on the offensive end combining for 18 assists. Now at (1-1), Marblehead will play Peabody Tuesday (5:30). 

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Lynn Tech/KIPP co-op 23,

Nashoba Tech 32

Alan Barrios came in first place in the win, and Bryton Osgood finished third. Anthony Perez, Bryon Robles, and Edwin Gomez also finished in the top eight. The Tech/KIPP co-op now has a (1-0) record. 

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Lynn Tech/KIPP co-op 19,

Nashoba Tech 42

The girls’ Lynn Tech/KIPP co-op also picked up a victory over Nashoba, with Flory Mendez finishing first. Briana Anderson, Addison Brown, and Ahyeli Vasquez all had great days finishing third, fourth, and fifth. The win gives them a (1-0) record.
