SWAMPSCOTT — The Swampscott Yacht Club is hosting its third annual Swamptoberfest on Saturday, which will feature live music, food trucks, events for children, and a beer garden.
Sponsored by Harpoon Brewery and Viva Seltzer, the event will take place on the Town Hall lawn from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Swamptoberfest seeks to raise money for the Yacht Club, Swampscott recreation, and the Swampscott Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).
Last year’s event brought in nearly 3,000 people and Recreation Director Danielle Strauss said the town is thrilled to continue this “great event that connects, celebrates and builds community in Swampscott.”
The event will have a kids’ area with mini golf, a blow-up obstacle course, a slide, basketball, giant Jenga and connect four.
The Swampscott PTO is also hosting a dunk tank where those attending the event can dunk Stanley Elementary School Physical Education Teacher Nick Calvano; Clarke Elementary School Principal Jason Knowles; Selectboard Member Katie Phelan; Stanley Elementary third grade teacher Alexandra Kelly; Selectboard Member David Grishman; Assistant Town Administrator Pete Kane; and Town Administrator Sean Fitzgerald.
Bands will begin playing at 4:00 p.m. and feature Turtle on a String, Brian Maes Band and Blue Honey Drops Paradise Road.
The food trucks that will be in attendance include Joe’s on a Roll, Cindy’s Pizza, Kerri’s Koncessions, Chicken & the Pig, and Which Wich.
“The Recreation Department loves planning parties,” Strauss said. “It is going to be a great night and the Swampscott Yacht Club, Harpoon Brewery and Viva Seltzer are great partners.”
The event has a $5 entrance fee with a $20 maximum fee per family. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.
