PEABODY — Senior Day, one of the city’s most popular events, is back after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.
This year’s event will be held at Brooksby Farm from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m on Tuesday.
City department heads and a crew of volunteers will serve a grilled hot dog lunch to more than 400 seniors who are expected to attend. There will be live music, dancing, and wagon rides through the Brooksby Farm orchards and tours of some of the Peabody Historical Society’s historic buildings. Guests will also be able to shop at the Brooksby Farm country store.
Since it began in 2012, Senior Day has become a beloved community tradition among Peabody’s older residents.
“We are so grateful to be able to hold this special event once again after a two-year pandemic hiatus,” said Mayor Edward A. Bettencourt, Jr. “We look forward to sharing a meal together and enjoying the great outdoors at Brooksby Farm.”
The Peabody Health Department will also be on hand giving seasonal flu shots. Registration is not required but is recommended. To register, go to https://home.color.com/vaccine/register/peabody.
Residents can also receive flu shots on the following dates: Oct. 12 at the Council on Aging from 1 – 4 p.m. on Oct. 12, Oct. 19 at the Wiggin Auditorium at City Hall from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., and on Nov.2 at the Council on Aging from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Several information booths will be on site. Among the organizations expected to participate are the North Shore Children’s Museum, Peabody Veterans Services, Green Peabody, National Parks, Peabody Municipal Light Plant and the Peabody Institute Library.
