BROCKTON — The St. Mary’s girl’s soccer team overcame adversity in a road matchup against Cardinal Spellman with the final score reading 2-2. With a tying point in the standings in jeopardy, Sophie Skabeikis found the back of the net twice on Monday. In her first varsity start between the pipes, eighth grader Bella Owumi stood tall with saves on 12 Cardinals attempts. St. Mary’s travels to face Bishop Feehan this Saturday, Oct. 1 at 10:00 a.m.

The Panthers’ six-game win streak has come to a close with the team suffering their first loss of the season against Stoneham, 2-1. Despite KIPP controlling a large portion of the game with quick, decisive passes, Stoneham’s defense passed the test and was able to clear out the majority of attempts. Despite the loss, three consecutive home games await KIPP with their next matchup coming against Excel Academy Charter on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.

Lynn Tech defeated Salem Academy on Monday by scores of 25-14, 25-15, and 25-17. Maria Groscos had 10 aces and seven digs in the victory, with Lia Morales racking up seven aces and six assists as well. The win boosts Lynn Tech’s record to 4-6 with the group traveling to face the Academy of Notre Dame on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.

The Lynn Classical golf team defeated Winthrop by a score of 41-31. Brady Warren led the way with an even par 36. Ryan Dugan, T.J. Walsh, Kyle McKenna, Ben Marciano, and Kevin Whelan all contributed in the win with solid performances as well.
