SAUGUS — The Board of Assessors is asking residents to review revised property values for fiscal year 2023 as part of a recertification of property values throughout the town.
Saugus is in the midst of completing the recertification of all property values as part of the Bureau of Local Assessment’s five-year certification cycle of property value for the 351 cities and towns across the state.
“The recertification is to ensure that properties are at full and fair market value and values are equitable throughout the community,” the Board said in a statement posted to the town’s website.
Massachusetts’ Department of Revenue has conducted an “extensive” review of property values and preliminary certification of all property values is pending with the department.
Residents are asked to “review their proposed assessments, check the data for their property for accuracy and contact the Assessor’s Office during the Public Disclosure period with any questions,” the statement said. The Public Disclosure period runs through Oct. 20.
Per a state requirement, all of the new property values are based on sales or income and expense information for 2021.
The assessment values are also posted at Town Hall and at the Saugus Library.
