In set scores of 19-25, 25-15, 25-15, and 25-23, Peabody (9-3) picked up win number nine against Masco on Wednesday, 3-1. Isabel and Lizzy Bettencourt each contributed with 14 kills. Abby Bettencourt added 27 assists and eight kills, while Michaela Alperen racked up 11 service points. Peabody hosts Woburn on Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Swampscott 1, Newburyport 0
The Swampscott field hockey team defeated the Clippers on Wednesday evening in shutout fashion. Olivia Baran was the goal-scorer, coming off a Brooke Waters assist. Swampscott hosts Saugus on Thursday, Oct. 13 (4:30 p.m.)
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Marblehead 19, Danvers 39
The Magicians continue to run circles around their competition. Harrison Kee earned a 1st place finish with a time of 16:50. Isaac Gross (17:04) came in right behind Kee for 2nd, while Will Cerrutti (17:06) clinched a 3rd place finish. Ryan Thompson (5th, 17:33), Ryan Blestowe (8th, 18:21), and David DiCostanzo (9th, 18:25) all held top-10 finishes for their team as well in an all-around, dominant performance. Marblehead finished the regular season undefeated at 5-0, winning the NEC Dunn Division. The runners now have their eyes set on the Twilight Invitational that will take place Friday night at the Cape Cod Fairgrounds.
Pentucket 31, Lynnfield 27
The Pioneers were just edged out by Pentucket Wednesday evening. Angelo DeLuca ran to a 2nd place finish overall with a time of 18:14, and coming in right behind was teammate Shea McCarthy with an 18:37 3rd place finish. John McKrell (18:38 – 4th overall), Ryan Nguyen (19:28 – 10th overall) and Charlie Beatrice (19:47 – 12th overall) all performed admirably for Lynnfield.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Marblehead 24, Danvers 35
The Lady Magicians had a solid day on the trails against Danvers. 1st overall was freshman Marri O’Connell, who ran an impressive time of 20:17. Junior Cat Piper (23:04) came in 4th, and senior captain Maya Mahoney rounded out the top five with a 24:49 mark. Piper Morgan (6th, 24:50), Isabelle Harvey (8th, 25:02), all scored well. Angie Fischer (9th, 25:12) and Devin Whalen (10th, 25:15) rounded out the top seven for Marblehead.
Pentucket 20, Lynnfield 38
The Lady Pioneers dropped their dual meet to Pentucket on Wednesday, but it wasn’t without some great individual finishes. Maddie Daigle came in 4th overall and finished first for her team with a time of 22:02. Katie Cash (5th, 22:43), Gabby Bottaro (7th, 22:56), Kaila George (10th, 23:48) and Viola Wertz (12th, 24:42) all ran well for Lynnfield, respectively.

Marblehead 51.5, Salem 20.5
The Magicians continue to stay hot on the links and it couldn’t be happening at a better time with the state tournament coming up on Tuesday. Marty Ryan shot a nine hole score of 35 along with Matt Weed who shot a 37 in their wins. Jacob Hershfield, Charlie Grenier, Jacob Aizanman, Matt Mahan, Adrian Baron all won their individual matches as well. The team has one final match tomorrow against Masconomet and Ferncroft as they look to capture their 12th win on the season.
