LYNN — The first-ever “Lynn’s Drinksgiving – Crawl for A Cause” will take place next month. The crawl will visit local bars to raise money to buy Thanksgiving turkeys to give to families in need.
Thomas Mackin and Sean Reid, both Lynn Classical graduates, are partnering with Mike Quintana, owner of Innergy on Essex Street, to host the charitable pub crawl on Nov. 12.
The crawl will begin at 1 p.m. at the Hibernian, located at 105 Federal St., where shirts will be given out to participants. After that, the crawl will venture into the city, stopping at Tony’s Pub around 3 p.m., Jade Pacifica at 5 p.m. and finishing at Rolly’s Tavern on the Square at 6 p.m., where there will be raffles available.
Mackin and Reid said this event aligns with what the spirit of Thanksgiving is all about.
“One of the best ways to give thanks is to give back,” said Reid. “In addition to raising money
for families that could use a hand right now, this event will also help support our beloved local
business that have had a tough go over the past few years.”
Those interested in participating can sign up at DrinksgivingLynn.Eventbrite.com and paid
registrants will receive a festive t-shirt. For those who want to donate but can’t attend, they can do so on that website or by contacting the organizers at [email protected] to donate via check, cash, or Venmo.
“This crawl is largely about bringing people together, much like Thanksgiving is, so we
appreciate all those who can attend or support in any way,” said Mackin. “We want this to just be a fun way that people can come together as a community and contribute to a great cause.”
Mackin and Reid decided to partner with Quintana for this event because he has strong community roots and can help identify families in need of the Thanksgiving turkeys. Quintana has distributed free turkeys for nearly a decade and will continue that tradition with the proceeds from this crawl.
Quintana, and his team at Innergy, said they are grateful and fortunate to be in a position to give back to the community.
“We are going on 10 years now and we couldn’t be any more excited to do this for our
community,” said Quintana “We’ve gained community, family and partnerships with so many
locals who share the same mission.”
For Quintana, holidays weren’t always the best growing up, but he said his family always
made the best of them. He remembers receiving a turkey from his school as a young kid, which is something that has stuck with him to this day.
The Crawl for a Cause has already received a great deal of donations after announcing the event a couple of weeks ago — a good sign as the organizers are hoping to make this an annual thing.
“Not to get ahead of ourselves, but we hope this is just the beginning,” said Mackin. “If all goes well, I think the plan is to ultimately make this a regular event.”
