At the Greater Boston League cross country championship in Medford on Thursday, English’s Eamon McHale placed 4th with a time of 14:57, and his sister, Madisen McHale, placed 8th with a time of 19:38. Eamon is a junior and Madisen is just a freshman, so the future is bright for the Bulldogs’ cross country team.
CROSS COUNTRY
At the Lynn Woods Reservation, the Lynn Tech/KIPP girls team (2-5) ran to victory against Innovation, 25-42. Leading the team were Flory Mendez (3rd), Faith Akinbani (4th), Elizabeth Galo (5th), Gisell Rodriquez (6th), Addisyn Brown (7th), Ferlande Jean-Jacques (8th), Erica Cruz (9th), and Judith Gomez (10th). For the boys, they were defeated, but Suaimon Amusa (3rd) and Alan Barrios (6th) ran well. The boys finished the season 4-2.
VOLLEYBALL
Peabody 3, Winthrop 0
In set scores of 25-17, 25-8, and 25-23, and coming off its Item Team of the Week nod, Peabody’s volleyball team picked up a senior night victory over Winthrop, 3-0. Gabbie Martinez racked up 11 assists and two aces while Abby Bettencourt collected 19 service points and six aces. Belle Turco, Kaya Grabowski, Isabel Bettencourt, and Lauryn Mendoc all contributed as well. Peabody ends the regular season with a 17-3 record.
Marblehead 3, Swampscott 0
The Marblehead volleyball team defeated the Big Blue on Thursday, 3-0, in dominating set scores of 25-9, 25-14, and 25-15. Keira Sweetnam had 10 aces and Lucy Sabin recorded five kills. Madison Antunes led Marblehead with seven digs defensively. The Magicians improve to 14-3 and take on Ipswich on Friday.
