The St. Mary’s football team defeated Archbishop Williams on Friday night, 35-19, to clinch the Catholic Central league title. David Brown scored five touchdowns for the Spartans, continuing what’s been a stellar season for him. Tommy Falasca and Jack Marks shined on defense and the Spartans now stand at 7-1.

Triton 27, Lynnfield 21
Lynnfield’s football team was bested by Triton, 27-21, in a close game at Pioneer Stadium. It was a defensive stalemate early, but Robert Marley energized Lynnfield with his running game and found the endzone in the second quarter. Kevin Julian pitched in with timely plays at the receiver spot, and Jack Calichman shined in the return game. Kevin Connelly and James Sharkey also played well in the loss. Triton ultimately made more plays than the Pioneers according to Lynnfield Head coach Pat Lamusta. “We just needed to do better against the run,” Lamusta said. “Ultimately, Triton made a few big plays towards the end that they needed.”

Marblehead 1, Bishop Fenwick 0
The Magicians’ girls soccer team improved to 9-4-5 on the season with a 1-0 victory over the Crusaders of Bishop Fenwick. Samantha Dormer scored the lone goal of the game – 20 minutes into the action – with Cait Mullins assisting. On Marblehead’s 10th shutout of the season, Talia Selby, Lily Gerson, Grace Mortensen, Leah Schauer, and Ava Larco all contributed defensively.

Marblehead 3, Ipswich 0
In set scores of 25-12, 25-20, and 26-24, the Marblehead girls soccer team defeated Ipswich on Friday, 3-0. Keira Sweetnam led Marblehead’s offensive attack with 17 kills while Isabel Wabno added another nine. Marblehead thrived on its serves with libero Caitlin Parkman collecting five aces and Keira Sweetnam adding another three. Tamya Johnson had 18 assists and Caitlin Parkman racked up 14 digs defensively. The Magicians end the regular season with a 14-3 record.
