SAUGUS — Firefighters extinguished a blaze at a home on Susan Drive Monday evening, after officials quickly struck a second alarm, touching off a large response and drawing firefighters from Melrose and Stoneham.

Three adults and one child made it out of the house safely, according to Deputy Chief Tom D’Eon, and no one was injured in the blaze.

D’Eon said, “initial impressions are that it started at the rear of the house.”

Neighbors said they saw trucks and equipment arriving at the scene before 7 p.m. Monday.
