Division II
Dartmouth at Fenwick
The Bishop Fenwick field hockey team finished the regular season with a 10-4-5 record. The Crusaders’ Rayne Millett has paced the offensive attack with her speed, dribbling ability, and finishing touch, while goalie Meg Donnelly has stayed strong in net for the Black and Yellow. Both Fenwick’s offense and defense can win games for the other. The Crusaders have had six games this season where they’ve scored five or more goals, and have 10 shutouts as well.
Marblehead at Longmeadow
It’s been an up-and-down season for the Marblehead field hockey team. Despite the Magicians’ 6-10-1 record, they’re in the postseason and have a chance to make the Marblehead faithful proud. However, standing in their way is Longmeadow – on its home court – with a 14-2-2 record coming in. Allowing zero goals is like clockwork for the Lancers, but there’s no time like the present for the Magicians to rack up some tallies as the underdog.
Division III
Wayland at Swampscott
The Swampscott field hockey team was 10-5-3 this season, and the Big Blue were rewarded by being ranked 7th in the Division III tournament. From Sawyer Grouthuis’ impressive speed to Coco Clopton’s playmaking ability, the Big Blue have lots of ways to take down their opposition. Reaching double digits in the win category is no easy feat, but Swampscott Head Coach Courtney Russo and her team have done it. Swampscott looks to continue its momentum against Wayland.
Division IV
Tahanto Regional at Lynnfield
Go 11-7, get rewarded with a top-five ranking in the Division IV tournament. The Lynnfield field hockey team has been fun to watch this season. From its offensive versatility to its ability to win at Pioneer Stadium, Lynnfield has impressed. However, standing in the Pioneers’ way is a Tahanto Regional squad that is 10-6-1. The Pioneers have played a tough schedule, but have come out the other side with lots to be happy about heading into the postseason.
Clinton at St. Mary’s
The St. Mary’s field hockey team finished regular season play with a 12-4-2 record, just missing a top-10 ranking in the Division IV tournament. Coming to Manning Field is a Clinton team that’s only lost twice in regulation this season, and 12-2-4 overall. The Spartans have shown they can be explosive on the offensive end – just look at Sept. 8 when they scored 10 goals, and Sept. 29 when they racked up 11. However, Clinton began the regular season with a string of shutouts, so anticipate an exciting matchup.
