Ella Gizmunt shines again, this time in No. 2 Lynnfield volleyball’s 3-0 win over No. 7 Nantucket on Thursday. In set scores of 25-14, 25-20, and 25-11, Lynnfield Head Coach Brent Ashley said his group simply followed the plan. “The biggest thing for them, they played to the game plan really well. They wanted to make sure they knew this team really well, and they really did.” The Pioneers didn’t know much about Nantucket – a team miles away who hadn’t played many of Lynnfield’s other opponents. Ashley mentioned they even had to study Nantucket from what they saw on YouTube. Prior to the match, Ashley added that Gizmunt said something along the lines of, “Coach, I’ve got it. I’ve been here before.” 17 kills, seven aces, and 12 digs later for Gizmunt, and the Pioneers were moving on. “It was kind of a cool experience,” Ashley said. Lynnfield takes on the winner of No. 3 Joseph Case and No. 6 Ursuline Academy later this week in the final four of the division 4 state tournament.
