“One of the best wins we’ve ever had,” says Lynnfield Coach

The buses left Medway full of smiling faces after the No. 3 Lynnfield boys soccer team defeated the No. 4 Mustangs, 2-1, to advance to the Division 3 Elite 8 with Head Coach Brett Munroe saying it was one of the best wins he’s had in his 30-year career. Senior superstar Alex Gentile scored both goals on headers – the first just 10 minutes into the action. “It gave us a little bit of hope because we knew they’d be coming at us hard,” Munroe said. Gentile struck again later on, his 19th goal of the season as both were assisted by Henry Caulfield. In the second half, Medway outplayed the Pioneers and tucked one to make things 2-1, but Lynnfield held on to advance. Munroe said the defense played fantastic, and that goalkeeper Kellen Cardinal played the best game of his season. Lynnfield travels to take on No. 12 Stoneham this Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
