LYNNFIELD — Historic Lynnfield, Inc., a new nonprofit organization, will host the town’s annual Country Store at the 1714 Meeting House on Saturday, Dec. 3, continuing a beloved holiday tradition that was established nearly 60 years ago.
“After last year’s incredibly successful Country Store, we are energized and excited to make this year’s event even more fun and fresh,” said Karen Nascembeni, who chaired the Historical Commission sub-committee that ran the event last year.
“We are bringing back the most popular foods and activities and have invited several new vendors who will be selling products with a homemade, organic feel that will fit in beautifully with a nod to the simpler times of the past that we love so much.”
Vendors will include favorites from the past, as well as some exciting new additions.
This year’s store will feature beautifully decorated fresh wreaths and swags. The Cheese Man returns with Vermont cheddar cheese. Ham-and-bean suppers are available to go. Lynnfield Baking will be offering a selection of baked goods and desserts. Take a break at Mrs. Claus’ Snacks and Lunch Kitchen. Pick up your favorite flavor of Singing Marshes jellies and jams.
Once again, the Village Home and Garden Club will offer beautiful evergreen arrangements to add to your holiday decor. The Centre Club of the North Shore will be selling lottery tickets.
The store’s most popular activity for children – Santa’s North Shore Fishing Pole is also back, sponsored by Colby Properties. The DiFillippo family will host an ornament decorating station. Kids can create a special ornament to take home as a remembrance of this beloved annual tradition after choosing their favorite penny candy, sponsored by the Kilgore family.
The store will open at 9 a.m. and at 10 a.m. the Voices of Hope chorus will perform carols upstairs, increasing anticipation for the arrival of Santa Claus from the North Pole by way of a Lynnfield fire truck. Santa will arrive at approximately 10:45 a.m.
Other offerings this year include decorative wreaths by Ariel Priestley’s Bee Kind Designs, home décor from All About Machine Embroidery, pottery by Mad Mud Design and beautiful blankets and aprons by Busy Fingers.
The Friends of the Lynnfield Library will be selling a large selection of Christmas-themed books, saved especially for the event from the Friends annual book sale.
Lynnfield for Love, a grassroots organization fostering diversity, inclusivity, and kindness, will be on hand.
Historic Lynnfield is led by a dedicated team of Lynnfield residents with a proven passion for preserving the history of Lynnfield.
“We are thrilled to have Nan Hockenbury at the helm of our organization. Having served previously as both the chair of the Lynnfield Historical Commission and president of the Lynnfield Historical Society, Nan is undoubtedly one of the foremost experts on Lynnfield history,” said Nascembeni. “Her knowledge of and passion for preserving Lynnfield’s history make her the perfect candidate to lead our team of dedicated volunteers.”
Joining Hockenbury and Nascembeni on the Historic Lynnfield Board of Directors are Treasurer Sharon McLaughlin Marrama, Clerk Kirk Mansfield and Directors Karen Hathaway, John Michalski, and Lauri Priestley.
Proceeds of the event will be used for preservation of the Meeting House and to obtain, catalog, and preserve important Lynnfield artifacts to be housed in the Pope Richard Historical Centre that will be available for research.
All our welcome at the 2022 Country Store! Doors will stay open through the town’s Tree Lighting ceremony later in the afternoon.
