If you are a single mother with two children enduring the emotional impact of a breakup and you’ve been kicked out of your home with the kids and you have nowhere to go, its hard to embrace the holiday spirit.
But a letter to Item Santa mired in this ordeal, during this winter and holiday season, she grasped onto hope and wrote to the Item Santa, “Anything will help at this moment.”
She has one boy and one girl, the latter still a baby. She has no childcare for the baby, and it is hard for her to take care of the infant while on a job hunt. Item Santa has seen this a lot during the pandemic. Single mothers are poorly treated by the job market.
Please help Item Santa by delivering smiles to this family. “I just want to bring them a smile, that will make me happy,” the mother wrote. She needs help with her rent since she has nowhere to live, but more essentially, anything will help at the moment.
During the holidays, Item Santa is willing to do all to give the family a place to stay warm. We are also a sign of hope for many people in need. In some families, mothers, just need a push of help to start their new lives.
“This is the beginning for us,” the mother wrote.
Item Santa has helped many devastated families facing any number of challenges. A family aided by Item Santa can be haunted by illness, facing unemployment because of a disease, suffering from being unable to afford childcare, new to the country, and much more.
If you can lend a hand to share our stories or donate your kindness, the families will be thankful.
Now in its 56th year, the Item Santa fund helps to make Christmas brighter for the needy. To donate, clip the coupon in The Item and mail it, along with your check, to The Item Salvation Army Santa, 85 Exchange St., Lynn, MA 01901.
