LYNN — Lynn resident Mark Arevalo, 27, of 15 Huss Ct. was arrested for kidnapping, four counts of armed robbery, home invasion, six counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and four firearm charges in connection to an alleged robbery that occurred late December.
At approximately 11:30 a.m. Friday, Detective Josh Hilton of the Lynn Police Criminal Investigation Division, along with state police, federal law enforcement officers and parole officers arrested Arevalo under multiple felony warrants.
Lynn Police Patrol Division officers assisted with transporting and booking Arevalo at the Lynn Police Station. The defendant was subsequently transferred to Lynn District Court and arraigned at approximately 4 p.m. His face was obscured behind a chalkboard at the request of his attorney Daniel Finn, who declined to comment on the case.
At the prosecution’s request, Judge SallyAnn Janulevicus issued a protective order on the case, prohibiting public dissemination of the police report.
In a written statement, Captain Dave Brown wrote that the kidnapping is alleged to have occurred during the armed robbery. He added that the incident is part of an active and ongoing investigation.
“To share the details of the case at this time, could potentially compromise the investigation,” Brown wrote.
Brown confirmed that the armed robbery case did not involve a bank or store, but that the victim was held against his or her will.
Janulevicus set a dangerousness hearing for 9 a.m. Jan. 12 at Lynn District Court.
