Police search Swampscott for missing mother clues

January 9, 2023 by [email protected]

SWAMPSCOTT — Police removed a dumpster at the Landing at Vinnin Square off of Paradise Road on Monday that could be used as possible evidence in the case of missing Cohasset mother Ana Walshe. The dumpster belongs to JRM Hauling and Recycling, a company based in Peabody and was hauled away after police taped off the area. It was secured and sent to a location where it could be processed, according to Sgt. Jay Locke, a spokesperson for the Swampscott Police Department. Locke also stated that police were also investigating dumpsters in the Connecticut area.

According to officials, the dumpster was located outside of the complex where the mother of Brian Walshe’s mother lives. Brian Walshe, 46, is the husband of Ana Walshe and was arrested Sunday and charged with misleading a police investigation, the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.

Brian Walshe was formerly a resident of Lynn. In April of 2021, he pleaded guilty to the stealing and attempted selling of two Andy Warhol paintings on eBay after being arrested and charged in 2018. He also pleaded guilty to wire fraud, interstate transportation for a scheme to defraud, possession of converted goods and unlawful monetary transactions. Prior to his arrest Sunday, Walshe was on house arrest awaiting his sentencing for the case involving the Warhol paintings.

Ana Walshe, 39, was last seen on New Year’s Day. According to the assistant district attorney, Brian Walshe reported that he got lost en route to his mother’s place in Swampscott on Jan. 1, stopping at Whole Foods and a CVS in town, though no receipts from either store were found. At the time of this report, the contents of the dumpster are not currently known.
