The Peabody girls basketball team dominated Winthrop in enemy territory on Friday, 96-52, in what head coach Stan McKeen called “a complete team effort.” Peabody was led by Logan Lomasney who had 21 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists. Other impressive showings came from Taylor Bettencourt (13 points, 10 assists, and six steals), Abby Bettencourt (15 points and five assists), Ally Bettencourt (10 points and five steals), Sophia Coburn (11 points), and Isabel Bettencourt (10 points).
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Lynnfield 42, Triton 40
Also on the road, red-hot Lynnfield picked up another win – one that was tight from beginning to end. The first quarter ended 12-12 and the second ended 25-24 in favor of the Vikings, but the Pioneers never panicked and got the job done. Bella George led the way with 17 points, while
Erika Pasquale had 10 points and eight rebounds.
Marblehead 16, Swampscott 14
In a defensive battle, Marblehead head coach Paul Moran said Samantha Dormer played “her best game ever,” scoring 10 points and five rebounds to will her team to victory. Sara Bario hit the game-winning shot, giving the Magicians a rivalry win to end the week.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Tech 78, Madison Park 53
Lynn Tech’s dynamic duo of freshmen impressed again in Friday’s win over Madison Park. Giovanni Jean had 28 points and Andy Batista had 17. Ederick Gonzalez was tremendous all-around, scoring 12 points to go with 12 rebounds. The Tigers moved to 7-2 with the win.
Saugus 57, Masco 44
Saugus’ boys basketball coach called Friday’s game between the Sachems and Masco “a great high school basketball environment.” Saugus won 57-44 with a versatile offensive attack. Max Anajjar led everyone with 21 points, while Ben Tapia-Gately followed with 18 and Josh Osawe tacked on seven.
Peabody 64, Winthrop 27
Just like its girls team, Peabody’s boys team (7-2) also picked up its seventh win of the season, this one a 64-27 victory over Winthrop. The Tanners’ Raphel Laurent had 12 points, Shea Lynch had 11 points, five rebounds, and five steals, and Shaun Ceruolo scored eight points. Vin O’Hara, Danny Barrett, and Anthony Forte all had seven points, while Ruddy DeJesus hauled in eight rebounds.
