St. John’s Prep’s wrestling team defeated New Bedford, Josiah Quincy, Saugus-Peabody, and Masco on Monday, moving to an astonishing 23-0 on the season. Undefeated (4-0) wrestlers on the day were Ben Schumacher, Alex Schaeublin, Elias Hajali, Jimmy Lally, Jayden D’Ambrosio, Ryan DeSouza, Rawson Iwanicki, Vince Bilotti, Angel Heredia, and Alex Bajoras.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Lynnfield 72, Amesbury 46
In what’s been a stellar week for Lynnfield Athletics, the boys basketball team played its part with a 72-46 victory over Amesbury. Zach Pincus scored 17 points while connecting on five from downtown. Alex Gentile followed with 16, Gavin Deluties added 12, and Cam Marengi tacked on 11. Lynnfield moved to 7-3 with the victory.
Prep 80, North Quincy 70
For the red-hot Eagles, a senior attack lifted the Prep to another win – this one over North Quincy. Seniors Mike O’Brien (24 points), Liam Buys (17), and Dan Trainor (14) all delivered, while junior Jack Angelopoulos added 12.
KIPP 70, Mystic 56
KIPP’s basketball team impressed on Monday with a big second half, putting the Panthers back in the win column. The team returns to action Tuesday on the road against Salem Academy.
BOYS HOCKEY
Fenwick 3, Lowell Catholic 1
Chris Stevens scored for Fenwick early in the game, and the Crusaders never looked back en route to a 3-1 victory over Lowell Catholic. Stevens and Anthony Sasso each scored in the second period to put the game out of reach.
Swampscott 8, Hamilton-Wenham 3
The Big Blue improved to 5-4 on the season with an 8-3 win over HW in enemy territory. Kody Langevain had two goals, Quinn Hitchcock had two goals and an assist, Ronan Locke scored a goal alongside two assists, and Derek Faia also scored next to two helpers. TJ McCarthy had a goal and an assist, while Will Roddy also found twine.
