Chelsea Police are asking for the public’s help to find Karisa Melanson, a 38-year-old mother of two who went missing last week.
Melanson left her home in Chelsea Tuesday morning, Jan. 10, to go to a methadone clinic in Lynn — that’s where she was last seen wearing black leggings, UGG boots, and a sweater.
Melanson’s mother Laura Datserakis said that her daughter does not have a working cell phone, or a car. She said that her daughter doesn’t typically disappear without calling.
“I haven’t heard from her at all since Monday night, and it’s just not like her to go nine days without calling, it’s just not like her,” Datserakis said. “She was in Lynn Tuesday morning to go to the clinic and that was the last time anyone’s seen her. It’s a mother’s nightmare.”
Datserakis said that she was recently told Melanson got a lift home from the clinic through the MBTA’s “The Ride” program.
Police said that Melanson frequents Lynn, Saugus, and Revere. She is 5-foot-7, 140-pound white woman with brown hair, and has piercings in her ears and possibly her nose.
Datserakis said that she’s grateful to the police for helping her find her daughter.
“She is a strong, beautiful person that would help and love everyone. She has her troubles and would never just be gone like this without a call,” Datserakis said. “We’re just waiting, and the cops are doing what they have to do to find her. I’m very, very happy with the cops that are helping out — I’m very pleased with them. You know, they’re very on top of everything, and they’re taking it personal. I’m very grateful.”
Police ask that anyone who has information about Melanson’s whereabouts contact Detective Captain Dave Betz at (617) 908-6046 or (617) 466-4822.
