LYNNFIELD — A Healthy Lynnfield’s next session of its Healthy Conversations, Healthy Kids program features motivational speaker, David Flood, who will use his humorous and genuine speaking style to teach parents and caregivers how to empower students with social and emotional skills while teaching them the lost arts of dignity, respect, and compassion.
The session will take place on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Lynnfield Middle School.
Flood feels that adult connections in schools and the community are one of the most integral parts of improving climate and culture. When it comes to youth, Flood knows that all adults can do a better job of helping young people navigate the rough waters of life — not going through teen problems for them, but going through it with them.
Flood will also share his 10 Ways to Connect with Kids. By using just a few of these connection ideas, any adult can help the students they interact with flourish in school and life.
Flood’s origin as a motivational speaker comes firsthand. He grew up impacted by addiction in his family. He married and became a father of two children; his oldest is a special needs son. He is active in his church, is a hospice volunteer who visits terminally ill patients, and is on the board of K.I.D.S Plus, a non-profit organization that helps special needs children through sports.
Flood says his life teaches him every day about dignity, understanding, patience, forgiveness, and most of all, unconditional love. As a youth motivational speaker, he has spoken in 38 states and Canada to over 400,000 students, inspiring them to look at people and things differently. His online videos have received over 125 million views. He speaks with passion and conviction and, through his humility, leaves his audience with so much to think about in their formative years as they move into their future.
