St. Mary’s swimming and diving head coach Michele Brewster called Saturday’s meet a “great win” as her Spartans swam to victory over Matignon, 77-68. Isabella Morillo, Dylan Obayashi, Luka Kukolj, and Travis Smith placed first in the 200 individual medley, while Obayashi also finished first in the 100 free. In the 100 backstroke, Gaby Martin snagged first, but that wasn’t all. Giada Caruso, Ryleigh Williams, Alexa Santa Cruz, and Alex Viveros placed first in the 400 freestyle relay. Also on Saturday, seniors Obayashi, Viveros, and Santa Cruz were honored for their time, energy, and commitment to St. Mary’s swimming and diving.
BOYS HOCKEY
St. Mary’s 2, Newburyport 2
The St. Mary’s boys hockey team played to a draw on Saturday against Newburyport. Cam McGonagle and Benjamin Fry each scored, as the Spartans continued their stellar season playing in enemy territory.
Somerville 5, Lynn 1
The Lynn Jets fought hard on Saturday, but came up short on the road against Somerville. Despite the loss, it didn’t come without positives. Lynn’s Kyle Furlong scored his first varsity goal, and Steven DiFilippo stood tall with 58 saves.

St. Mary’s 1, Notre Dame Hingham 0
It was a matchup of the two top-ranked teams in Division I on Saturday, and the Spartans left the rink victorious to remain undefeated. Maggie Pierce scored with 33 seconds remaining as Ang Catino’s shutout lifted the Spartans to another win.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Peabody 61, Masco 38
Nine wins in eleven games isn’t bad – just ask the Peabody boys basketball team. Anthony Forte led the way with an incredible showing of 27 points and six steals, while Danny Barrett followed with 13 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Raphel Laurent added nine points, Nate Braz scored five to go along with two assists, and the ever-so-versatile Vin O’Hara had four points, two rebounds, and two assists to go with his great defense.

Peabody 60, Masco 52
In what head coach Stanl McKeen called an “exciting game,” the Tanners moved to 8-0 with a win against Masco. Peabody was led by Logan Lomasney who had 26 points and 19 rebounds – yes, you read those stats correctly. Taylor Bettencourt added 15 points and seven steals, while Abby Bettencourt had 15 points, nine rebounds, and five steals. Isabel and Elizabeth Bettencourt each played strong as well for the Tanners.
WRESTLING
The St. John’s Prep wrestling team wins again. This time, it was Agawam, Putnam, Hope (RI), and West Springfield in the way. Alex Schaeublin, Jayden D’Ambrosio, Rawson Iwanicki, and Alex Bajoras all went 4-0 as the Prep moved to an astonishing 29-0 on the season.
