You know what I’ve been thinking? Those No. 1 Eagles sure are flying in Division I. The St. John’s Prep hockey team went 2-0 last week (9-1-1 overall) with wins over No. 8 Xaverian and No. 10 BC High. Against rival Xaverian on Wednesday, the Eagles were down 1-0 midway through the first, but scored four unanswered en route to a 4-1 win. Cole Bleaser, John Morton (game-winner), Johnny Tighe, and Christian Rose all scored, and the Prep was on to BC High. In a Sunday matinee, the scoring barrage continued as the Eagles won 6-1. Not only that, there were five goal-scorers, including Ben McGilvray who potted the eventual game-winning goal. All in all, it’s been another stellar season for the Eagles, largely because of Will Van Sicklin who leads the team in points (13). Eagles, good week.
