February 3, 2023 by [email protected]

Peabody’s Logan Lomasney collected a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds in the Tanners’ 69-34 win against Gloucester on Friday. Lomasney was active on the defensive end as well, collecting four steals. Abby Bettencourt scored 17 points, dished out five assists and pickpocketed Gloucester six times. Taylor Bettencourt did a little bit of everything, chipping in with 11 points, four steals and four assists. The Tanners moved to 12-2 on the year.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Pentucket 57, Lynnfield 29

Lynnfield’s offense went cold after competing for the third time in four days – and turnovers were the downfall of the night. That said, Bella George led the Pioneers with 12 points and sophomore guard Erika Pasquale scored seven. Lynnfield is now 7-9 on the year.

Swampscott 28, Beverly 23

The Big Blue are on a roll, picking up their third straight win Friday night. Swampscott was led by freshman Sam Ward who poured in 13 points. Lilian Gosselin had a strong game, grabbing 12 rebounds and scoring six points. The Big Blue will look to extend the winning streak to four when they face Rockport on Monday.

Marblehead 44, Danvers 23

Marblehead got out to a flying start, holding Danvers to just seven points in the first half. “Great team effort and win tonight,” head coach Paul Moran said. “Happy [with] how the girls played. If we keep moving the ball, good things happen.” Playing well for Marblehead was Sara Bosio (10 points), Tessa Andriano (nine), and Sam Dormer (seven). Marblehead’s next game will be on Tuesday against Peabody.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Tech 71, Mystic Valley 52

Talk about a team effort – four Tigers scored in double figures as Tech won its second straight game to move to 13-3. Giovanni Jean led the way with  25 points and seven assists while backcourt teammate Andy Batista added 12 points and dished out five assists. Center Ederick Gonzalez recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Jayden Welch contributed with 16 points and seven rebounds.

Beverly 85, Swampscott 49

It was a tough night for the Big Blue as they could not overcome the hot-shooting Panthers. Head coach Jason Knowles was complimentary of Beverly, calling the program “one of the best teams in the conference.” Liam Wales led Swampscott with 20 points while Connor Chiarello added 12 points and Max Brodsky scored 10.

Salem 69, Saugus 35

The Sachems lost a tough road game Friday night, but will look to get back to their winning ways on Tuesday when they host Gloucester. Ben Tapia-Gately led the Sachems with 11 points. Max Anajjar chipped in with seven points and Isaiah Rodriguez added six. Tuesday’s game will be Senior Night for Saugus with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m.

Peabody 72, Gloucester 53

The Tanners win again – this time, against Gloucester in a 72-53 decision. Nathan Braz (22 points, five steals), Anthony Forte (19 points, three assists), Shea Lynch (eight points, eight rebounds), and Raphel Laurent (seven points, three rebounds, three assists) all impressed for the Tanners.

Lynnfield 47, Pentucket 36

Gavin Deluties scored 15 points alongside Chris Daniels (10) and Alex Gentile (nine) to lead Lynnfield to a double-digit win against Pentucket. The Pioneers improved to 9-6 with the victory.

Marblehead 81, Danvers 47

Seniors Ty Countrymon (nine points, seven assists), Magnus McCarthy (nine points), Aven Denbow (nine points), and Isaiah Makor (12 points, six rebounds, and three assists) all led the way in Marblehead’s 81-47 win over Danvers on Friday.
