Ipswich jumped ahead of Lynnfield’s girls basketball team 41-39 with 1:23 remaining on Tuesday. That said, the Pioneers’ Jaelynn Moon hit a shot with three seconds remaining to tie things up – and it didn’t end there. Bella George stole the inbound pass and got the ball to Ava Gamache who hit the game-winning shot as time expired to give Lynnfield the 43-41 win.
“It was a hard fought game with an incredible finish,” Lynnfield head coach Susan Breen said.
After beginning the season with a few losses, that all seems like ancient history for the red-hot Pioneers who now stand at 8-9. George had 11 points, Moon put up eight, and Gamache tacked on seven. Erika Pasquale also contributed with six points.
“We had really balanced scoring,” Breen said.
