Marblehead is nominated for the “Best Coastal Small Town” award for the USA Today 10 Best Readers’ Choice 2023 Travel Awards and is currently ranked third on the list of 20 towns nominated in the US.

Known for its world-class amusement parks Sandusky, Ohio is leading the votes in first place, with the city of Stuart, Florida, located on the Atlantic, taking second place for its sail fishing and its impressive Roosevelt Bridge.

In New England, artist colony Rockport, and Provincetown, are among the 20 towns nominated, but with its quaint, picturesque views of the coastal New England,  Marblehead is dominating the votes.

The town’s nomination extols virtues well known to residents and visitors alike: Just a short drive from Salem and Boston, Marblehead’s historical features add a strong asset to the contest, for travelers to enjoy Fort Sewall and the Jeremiah Lee Mansion.

Nature lovers will be delighted with a kayaking trip to nearby Crowninshield Island and other diverse attractions including the independent cinema Warwick Place and the Marblehead Neck Wildlife Sanctuary, where visitors can encounter beautiful migratory birds.

Even though Marblehead leads over top Florida destinations, six small Florida coastal towns were nominated into  the top 20, including the self-proclaimed dive capital of the world Key Largo.

Marathon in the heart of Florida Keys; historic St. Augustine; Sanibel Island; Marco Island, and St. George Island were other nominees.

Other towns in the U.S. in the top 20 include Cannon Beach in Oregon, Grand Marais, Minnesota, Mill Valley, California, Merce Island, Washington, and Nags Head, North Carolina.

Votes are allowed once per day until polls close on Monday, Feb. 20 at noon (ET). The winning small towns will be announced on 10Best.com on Friday, March 3.
