Head coach Jason Knowles said his team played a very complete game, and the strong performance was a “combination of a lot of things.”
“All phases of our game are starting to click,” Knowles said.

BOYS BASKETBALL
St. Mary’s 77
Arlington Catholic 42
Talk about a versatile offensive attack. The St. Mary’s boys basketball team dominated Arlington Catholic 77-42 to move to 12-5. Omri Merryman led the way with 19 points, while David Brown Jr. followed close behind with 17. Anthony D’Itria put up another 10, while Nick Sacco showed his versatility with eight points and 16 rebounds. That chalks up back-to-back wins for the Spartans who return to action Monday against St. John’s Prep.
Lynnfield 67
North Reading 50
In what head coach John Bakopolus called a “great team win,” the Pioneers blew past North Reading 67-50 on Friday. Alex Gentile led everyone with 21 points, while Cam Margeni shot it well to add another 18. Gavin Deluties tacked on 13, and Alex Fleming impressed with nine and 12 rebounds. The win lifted Lynnfield to 12-6.
Lynn Tech 100
Nashoba Tech 50
When your team scores 100 points in one game while only allowing 50, I’d say that’s a pretty good night. The Lynn Tech boys basketball team defeated Nashoba Tech as every Tiger scored in the victory. Freshman Giovanni Jean did his thing with 23 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists, while Ederick Gonzalez put up a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds. Jayden Welch also caught eyes with 21 points and 14 rebounds as the red-hot Tigers moved to 15-3.
Peabody 88
Whittier 51
The Peabody boys basketball team climbed to 13-5 as three players reached double figures in the Tanners’ win against Whittier. Raphel Laurent (19 points), Anthony Forte (17), and Nathan Braz (11) stole the show, while Cam Connolly (eight) and John Minichillo (seven) also impressed in the victory.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Lynn Tech 48
Nashoba Tech 44
In a tight matchup in their home gym, the Tigers escaped victorious with a 48-44 victory against Nashoba Tech. Allison Morales had 15 points while Divine Egbuta added 11 and Engelyz Bingham scored 10. On the other end of the hardwood, Aliyah Volquez and Elibette Rodriguez led the way on defense as Tech upped its record to 11-6.
North Reading 51
Lynnfield 42
The Pioneers’ girls basketball team has been tough to beat as of late, but lost to North Reading at home on Friday night. Despite things being close throughout as Lynnfield trailed by just three heading into the final frame, North Reading went on a run late to seal it. For Lynnfield, sophomore guard Emma Rose led the team in scoring with 14 points. Sophomore forward Taylor Valiton recorded a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds, while senior guard Bella George and junior guard Ava Gamache scored seven points apiece. “We had great, balanced scoring and contributions from many players,” Lynnfield head coach Susan Breen said. “It was just tough to have a scoring drought in the final frame.”
