You know what I’ve been thinking? When Swampscott boys basketball coach Jason Knowles said “all phases of our game are starting to click,” he meant it. The Big Blue went 2-0 last week, winning both games by double-figures to climb all the way back to a .500 record (8-8). During game one of the two-night stand, Swampscott defeated North Reading 70-58 after extending a seven-point lead at halftime. Its offensive attack was versatile, as freshman star Connor Chiarello (25 points), Max Brodsky (20), Gabe Tripp (eight), and Jake Collins (seven) all contributed. A night later, the Big Blue took that momentum and dominated Winthrop 66-40 as Knowles said the performance was a result of “a lot of things.” Chiarello impressed again with 19 points, Brodsky tacked on another nine, and Savaughn Pearson also scored nine. To the red-hot Big Blue, good week.
