The KIPP boys basketball team doesn’t need to worry about clinching the state tournament anymore. On Thursday, the Panthers defeated Collegiate Charter School of Lowell 63-45. The victory wrapped up a five-game in 10-day stint in which KIPP impressed with a 4-1 record.
“Everybody was able to get in and play today,” KIPP head coach Moody Bey said.

Senior Night, check. Moving to 19-0, check. Defeating Saugus 47-28, check. The Lynn Classical girls basketball team defended its home-court with a win over the Sachems. The Rams were led by senior Ava Thurman who had 15 points, followed by junior Lauren Wilson who added 11. Also contributing were seniors Lauren Hennessey, Kiyah Brown, and Kylee Mills. The two teams return to action in a rematch at Saugus High next week.
Marblehead 49
Swampscott 30
The Marblehead girls basketball team qualified for the state tournament on Thursday after getting the better of Swampscott 49-30. Freshman Tess Andriano led the way with 23 points, and Samantha Dormer followed with 10. Freshmen Marri O’Connell and Samara Dosch also impressed, and head coach Paul Moran said “they ran the point and did a great job.”
Peabody 53
Revere 13
Another day, another win for Peabody as the Tanners defeated the Patriots 53-13 at home. Peabody was led by Lauryn Mendonca who recorded 14 points, eight rebounds, six steals, and five blocks. Logan Lomasney also added 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Alli Bettencourt scored seven points to go along with five assists and five steals. The dominant victory upped Peabody’s record to 15-2.
