New Lynn Coalition to honor State Rep. Peter Capano

February 16, 2023 by Allysha Dunnigan

LYNN — The New Lynn Coalition is hosting a tribute event on Thursday, Feb. 23 to celebrate its accomplishments and honor State Rep. Peter Capano for his activism in the city.

The event will be held at the Lynn Museum from 6 to 8 p.m. and will spotlight some of the “unsung heroes” of the New Lynn Coalition member organizations. The unsung heroes will include Capano, who is one of the founders of the New Lynn Coalition.

“It is most fitting that the New Lynn Coalition honor Representative Capano,” said New Lynn Coalition President Tish Mukala. “He has not only been of significant help in founding the organization and in helping to implement our mission, but he has also helped most of our membership organizations as well. We look forward to working with him in the years to come.”

Composed of 15 community and labor organizations, the New Lynn Coalition works to “reach goals important to our member organizations and the residents of Lynn.”

Most recently, the Coalition backed the acceptance of the Housing Plan prepared by the Metropolitan Area Planning Council and supported the adoption of an unarmed Emergency Response Team. It also runs a monthly program that distributes food to 650 Lynn families who are facing economic and food security issues.

Tickets for this event are $50 and are available online by searching for “Peter Capano” on Eventbrite.

For more information, tickets, or program booklet advertising, contact Paul Coombs at (781) 479-6623 or [email protected].
