Item Athlete of the Week – Tyrese Melo Garcia

You know what I’ve been thinking? That at least three times this season, opposing coaches have told me how special English’s Tyrese Melo Garcia is – and for good reason. This past week, despite the Bulldogs being eliminated from the Spartan Classic, Garcia made the all-tournament team and put up multiple strong performances – none more impressive than against Springfield Central. Garcia exploded for 35 points – scoring in seemingly every way imaginable – to help English defeat a strong Springfield Central team. He also added five rebounds in English’s 66-61 win. Two days earlier, Garcia scored 11 points against tournament-winner Malden Catholic. On top of his on-court skills, head coach Alvin Abreu has applauded Garcia for his leadership and maturity. With weapons like Garcia, Warren Keel Jr., and Joshua St. Jean among others, look for the Bulldogs to make some noise during their postseason run. Garcia, good week.
