SWAMPSCOTT — On Thursday, Southern Essex District Register of Deeds John O’Brien announced the property at 555 Essex Street in town was sold for $18,552,571.
According to O’Brien, the sale of the 11-acre plot of land will generate $84,601.68 in revenue for the Commonwealth through deed exercise sales tax.
Currently, a Stop & Shop is located at this property. Also in the area is a Home Goods and a Starbucks.
Orion Swampscott Shop, LLC, purchased the property from the Delaware liability company ARC HR5SSMA002, LLC, which was formerly known as Inland American Framingham, LLC, according to the quitclaim deed.
Nancy Doherty, the manager of the Southern Essex District Register of Deeds office, said this is one of the larger recent sales in Swampscott. In 2022, she said there were two “significant” sales.
“100 Vantage Terrace, I think that was the residential apartment complex, that was 38 million [dollars] on November 21, 2022,” Doherty said.
The other sale was for Anthony’s Pier 4 Cafe and Hawthorne By The Sea, which was purchased by the Town of Swampscott for $7 million, she said.
