LYNN

Arrests

Silvanio Chavez Mendez, 35, of 81 Hawthorne St. was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license, and possession of a Class B drug at 2:34 a.m. Wednesday.

Brian Mercado, 28, of 547 Essex St. was arrested as a fugitive from justice at 10:20 a.m. Monday.

Accidents

A report of a motor vehicle hit-and-run at 2:39 p.m. Tuesday at 267 Chestnut St.; at 3:20 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Washington Street and Western Avenue.; at 6:10 a.m. Wednesday at 180 Boston St.

A report of a motor vehicle crash with injuries at 9:53 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of South Street and Summer Street.

A report of a motor vehicle crash at 11:13 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Lynnfield Street and Tuscan Road.; at 9:11 p.m. Tuesday at 64 Market Square.; at 9:51 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of South Street and Summer Street.; at 9:36 a.m. Wednesday at 873 Western Ave.

Assault

A report of an assault and battery at 6:46 p.m. Tuesday at 423 Boston St.

Overdose

A report of an overdose at 360 Washington St.

Thefts

A report of larceny at 11:09 a.m. Tuesday at 508 Summer St.; at 3:53 p.m. Tuesday at 508 Lynnway.; at 11:32 a.m. Wednesday at 535 Lynnway.

Fires

A report of a fire at 4:04 p.m. Tuesday at 8 Northern Ave.; at 8:09 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Lynnway and Newhall Street.; at 6:16 a.m. Wednesday at 48 Ocean St.

Suspicious Activity

A report of suspicious activity at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Bennett Street and Elmwood Avenue.; at 11:36 p.m. Tuesday at 17 Wallace Road.

Accidents

A report of a motor vehicle collision with injuries at 4:49 a.m. Tuesday at 1098 Broadway. A caller reported being in a three-vehicle crash. One occupant requested emergency medical services for knee and shoulder pain, and was taken to Melrose/Wakefield Hospital. 

A walk-in report of a hit-and-run crash at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday. A woman reported being rear-ended by a large white motor vehicle at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, March 10 on the Walnut Street offramp onto Route 1. 

Alarms

A report of a burglar alarm at 10 p.m. Monday at Rollerworld, 425 Broadway. Dispatched officers reported the building appeared to be secure. 

A report of a burglar alarm at 11:18 p.m. Monday at Prince Pizza, 517 Broadway. Dispatched officers reported the building appeared to be secure. 

A report of a burglar alarm at 11:35 p.m. Monday at Prince Pizza, 517 Broadway. Dispatched officers reported the building appeared to still be secure. 

A report of a burglar alarm at 11:43 p.m. Monday at Pioneer Charter School of Science II, 97 Main St. Dispatched officers reported there appeared to be a cleaner in the building who set off the motion alerts. 

A report of a burglar alarm at 3:58 a.m. Tuesday at Ocean State Job Lot, 1020 Broadway. Dispatched officers reported the door was open upon arrival, but officers were unable to identify signs of a break in and no person was on site. Police contacted the key holder to secure the door as they were unable to. 

A report of a burglar alarm at 7:46 a.m. Tuesday at Mike’s Barber Shop, 336 Central St. Dispatched officers reported the activation was accidental and set off by employees opening up for the day. 

A report of a burglar alarm at 7:56 a.m. Tuesday at Spectrum Health Systems, 184 Broadway. Dispatched officers reported the exterior appeared secure. 

A report of a burglar alarm at 10:42 a.m. Tuesday at 5.11 Tactical, 358 Broadway Apt. #D. An officer reported the business appeared closed for the day. 

A report of a burglar alarm at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday at Interstate Properties, 999 Broadway. Dispatched officers reported the building appeared secure. 

A report of a burglar alarm at 4:41 a.m. Wednesday at Rollerworld, 425 Broadway. Dispatched officers spoke to the alarm company, which reported making contact on scene but said it was given the wrong code. Officers spoke to the owner who said he was waiting on his daughter to help him fix the alarm. 

Complaints

A pump station alarm went off at 10:18 a.m. Tuesday at Laurel Street. The Department of Public Works was notified. 

A caller reported a concerning amount of banging coming from his neighbor’s apartment at 7:29 p.m. Tuesday at 5 Pennybrook Gardens Apt. #A1. Dispatched officers reported no noise on arrival and were unable to identify any of the parties involved. 

Disturbances

Parking Control reported a male party took his radio and threw it across the parking lot at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday at Stop & Shop, 164 Main St. 

A caller reported being stuck in the parking lot and being attacked by plow drivers who would not let him leave at 2:04 a.m. Wednesday at Walnut Place, 190-216 Broadway. Dispatched officers requested an ambulance and one person was taken to Melrose/Wakefield Hospital. 

Neighborhood dispute

A caller reported a neighborhood kid playing “ding dong ditch” at 9:32 p.m. Monday at 82 Newhall Ave. Apt. #108

Unlawful operation

An officer stopped a vehicle at 12:37 p.m. Tuesday in the area of 238 Walnut St. reporting it was revoked for insurance. The vehicle will be towed to the owner’s residence and its plates were seized.
