The largest business expo in the region will be coming to Peabody on Thursday, March 23 at the Boston Marriott.

The expo, put on by the North Shore Chamber of Commerce, will feature more than 70 businesses with booths showcasing their products, services, and opportunities. It comes at a time of economic uncertainty for many.

“There’s so much going on, as we know, with the supply chain and disruptions happening everywhere,” said Communications Manager for the North Shore Chamber of Commerce Katie Lovett. “Gas and oil prices are impacting people getting to work and people being able to go about their everyday routine.”

With the current state of the economy, the Chamber will also be hosting a business insight breakfast from 7:30 to 9 a.m. with Vice President of Eastern Bank Wealth Management Allen Laine, who will give an economic update on the region. Laine will also address questions regarding interest rates, supply chain issues, and rising gas and oil prices.

“[Laine’s] message is going to be so important to hear. He is someone who is very experienced and he’s an expert in this area. He is going to be someone that we should listen to and just learn from,” Lovett said.

An expo luncheon will also be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., during which Salem Five Wealth Management and Trust President Sean Tesoro will be providing an address. He will discuss the Millionaires Tax and its effect on those who are considering selling a business or high-end real estate.

Lovett said that Tesoro will “offer a new perspective” on the Millionaires Tax and that his message will be very important to hear.

Throughout the day’s events, which run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., a number of seminars and presentations will be held regarding the topics of networking, how to find a potential intern, promoting your brand on LinkedIn, and using business strategies to grow your business.

Many businesses present at the expo are hiring, so attendees are encouraged to bring their resumes and business cards to meet with potential employers.

“With more than 1,500 people in attendance, it’s a great way for people in any part of their career to network and form connections whether you are looking for a new job, whether you have a side gig, you’re looking to reach out and be potential clients,” Lovett said.

Admission to the expo floor is free, however seating for the seminars and presentations is limited. Therefore, advanced registration is required. Reservations for the breakfast and lunch are required as well.
